Topic:cognitive learning theory

The cognitive learning theory explains why the brain is the most incredible network of information processing and interpretation in the body as we learn.

According to Edward Tolman
individuals responds stimuli, belief, thoughts, attitudes and feelings. He conducted an experiment in which he trained a rat to turn right in the T maze to obtain the food. One day, he started a rat from the opposite part of the maze. According to operant conditioning, rat should have turned right due to past conditioning, but instead it turned towards where the food was kept.

An educational psychologist Jean Piaget (1936). According to him, children are born with the basic mental structure. His contribution include a stage theory of child development.

1. Sensorimotor stage (birth to 2 years): Child uses utilizes skills such as looking, sucking.
2. Pre operarional stage (2 to 7 years): child start to talk.
3. Concrete operational stage(7 to 11 years): child develops the logical thought.
4. Formal operational stage (12 and up years): children becomes more sophisticated and advanced.

These are 4 stages of cognitive development.
